VOLUNTEER AT VAN
With decreasing federal funding for all social programs including HIV/AIDS and a very small staff covering a 4,000 square mile service area, we welcome and appreciate everyone who would like to share their time, talent and compassion.
VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
Main responsibilities include: Volunteer Recruitment, Orientation, Oversight/Monitoring.
Office Assistant: data entry, filing, other duties as needed.
Organize / Publicize / Participate in a VAN fundraiser:
- AIDS WALK
- Silent Auction
- Yard Sale
- Others
Client Transportation to medical appointments at UVA Medical
Center in Charlottesville or locally in Harrisonburg.
This is on an “AS NEEDED” basis.
A staff member will contact you one week to 48 hours PRIOR to a
transportation need and ask for your availability. We particularly need
volunteers in the Staunton/Waynesboro/Grottoes areas.
Food Bank pickup and delivery – as needed. This may
include travel to pick up, sort, and stock food from our Food Bank sources and bag and deliver to our clients in Harrisonburg and our service areas; Staunton, Waynesboro, Rockingham, Rockbridge, Bath, Highland, Augusta, Page, and Shenandoah counties.
Proficient Spanish-speaking volunteers for client emotional support and ESL education.
