CURRENT VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNTIES

Transportation to client medical appointments at UVA Medical

Center in Charlottesville.   This is on an “AS NEEDED” basis.

A staff member  will contact you one week to 48 hours PRIOR to a

transportation  need and ask for your availability. We particularly need

volunteers in the Staunton/Waynesboro/Grottoes areas.

Food Bank pickup and delivery – as needed.  This may

include travel to pick up, sort, and stock food from our Food Bank sources and bag and deliver to our clients in Harrisonburg and our service areas; Staunton, Waynesboro, Rockingham, Augusta, Page and Shenandoah counties.

Assist clients with rides to local area shopping or various

local appointments and errands.

Proficient Access Database and Web Graphic designers.

Proficient Spanish-speaking volunteers for client emotional support and ESL education.

Organize a Food, Cleaning/Laundry Supplies, Toiletries Drive.

Help with small home repairs or house painting.

Clean up yard, mow grass, rake leaves, shovel snow.

Organize or participate in a fundraiser to benefit VAN.

Distribute VAN special event and/or HIV awareness posters and pamphlets throughout our six county service area.

Participate and recruit walkers, organize teams and provide logistical support for VAN's yearly AIDS WALK in March 2008.

Use your creativity to design materials that help publicize VAN's events.

Assist in Public Relation to make VAN and our work more visible in our communities.

Solicit donations from local business to assist with special client needs or as prizes and incentives for special events.

Use your community contacts to spread awareness of HIV/AIDS.

VAN Board Members are available to speak to interested groups.

Donate Pet Supplies and assist with veterinary costs to enable our clients to properly care for and keep their pets.
